Hubs and I are finally going to start doing something about our weight, together. That's been the biggest hurdle for me, he hasn't really wanted to work out with me. We started walking on Monday. We walked a little over a mile Monday and again last night. Tonight it will be too dark when we get home to walk, but we're going to the gym. We've already started cutting soft drinks out of our lives, which is a really hard thing for me to do. I'm so addicted to anything carbonated. We've switched to juice for the time being and hot tea, I know we should be drinking water, we're getting there.
I've been cooking at home much more too. So that helps in our battle with our waistlines. Together we've gained about 100 pounds in the last 6 years. I'm so fed up with looking the way I look and feeling less confident than I once did. I know Brandon feels the same way. It sucks when you wake up one morning and suddenly, none of your clothes fit. WTF!? When did THAT happen? It doesn't help that sizes keep getting smaller too. What was once a size 0 is now being passed off as a size 5. You don't even want to know what they've done to the real size 5. I'll be posting my progress as I go. Not Brandon's though, I don't think he would like that much.
Starting weight: 154 pounds
Starting size: I don't even know anymore
Goal weight: 110
Goal size: maybe a 7? depends on what a 7 is when I get there.

My hubby and I are doing the same thing. Like you guys, we've gained a few pounds over the years. I totally understand waking up and being like "umm how did this happen?" I always know when I start to gain weight because my "fat" clothes are very tight. Starting with New Years, we've cut out sodas (I use "we" loosely, he hasn't cut them out entirely). I will occasionally drink an all natural soda. I also cut out coffee altogether and have started drinking tea. I've also started making most everything from scratch (not from a can). So if it is something I can make at home (cream of chicken soup, spaghetti sauce, pudding, etc) I will do it. If I don't have time, then I simply find another recipe for dinner. I've also cut out food coloring. I just bought all natural food dye and I can't wait to try it. Also one thing you should keep an eye out for is hydrogenated/partially hydrogenated oils (trans fats). These usually lurk in processed foods, and margarine is a biggie (I only use real butter). FDA is very sneaky, so a product can claim 0% trans fats, but that's because it's less than .5 grams. This is why you have to read the ingredients. If it lists hydrogenated/partially hydrogenated then put it back. Your body can't break this down and so it remains in your body (not good at all!)Also I'm trying to stay away from ingredients I can't read or don't know what they are. Sorry this is so long! Good luck on your journey! You can do it and you will feel so much better!
